Study Abroad
A study abroad experience travels with students far beyond their college years.
Studying abroad can be a very rewarding experience both academically and personally. In an increasingly connected world, studying abroad can provide you with an opportunity to actively engage with a new culture and challenge you to think critically both about the host culture and your own. This experience is a gateway to enhancing your intercultural communication skills and gaining a global perspective.
Tuscany Campus
Students are able to embark on this journey with their friends while learning about Italian life and culture and soaking up as much as they can about Italy!
The University of New Haven opened its first international satellite campus in Prato, Italy in the fall of 2012. The historic city of Prato offers Univeristy of New Haven students an authentic Italian cultural experience. Prato, the second largest city in the region, is just 20 minutes from Florence and one hour from Pisa by train.
Students who are looking for a program that is not a full semester long can choose to participate in one of our faculty-led or Embedded Programs. Small groups of students will travel with their faculty and explore the culture and country through their coursework. Faculty-led programs usually occur in the Summer or Winter Intersession and are separate from the regular cost of annual tuition. Embedded courses have a classroom component and a travel component that is included in the cost of tuition for that course. These programs have a separate (E) distinction in their program names.
Provider Programs
Students wanting to study abroad for the semester can choose from over 400 programs across the world. Many students will choose to study abroad at the University’s satellite campus in Tuscany, Italy while others will choose to study through one of our partner programs.
Third Party Providers
In addition to our own campus, the University of New Haven has agreements with the following third-party providers. With each provider, there are a multitude of options in terms of program model and type. Some programs allow students to enroll directly in a foreign institution while others offer study centers with coursework all in English. Check out the Program Search tool to begin looking at all the different options or visit with our Staff who will guide you through the process.
