What is D.R.E.A.M.?

D.R.E.A.M. stands for Defeating Roadblocks in Education through Awareness and Mentoring

  • D.R.E.A.M. Is a Transition Program equipped to support students in their first-year transition into University of New Haven.
  • D.R.E.A.M. is hosted by the Accessibility Resources Center for first year students who are registered and/or planning to register with the Accessibility Resources Center for services.
  • D.R.E.A.M. Occurs in August as an early move-in 2 days prior to Freshmen move-in.
  • D.R.E.A.M. ­Continues through the first semester with a 1-credit Foundations for Success course designed to enhance success by refining students’ academic skills and abilities.
  • D.R.E.A.M. overall supports students in successfully graduating UNH.

 

Who Will Students Connect With? 

  • Students will connect with other first year students and get to know their D.R.E.A.M. Ambassadors (Active UNH students who volunteer through ARC and are very knowledgeable about the University and its resources) through a series of activities. Through participating and team building, students will make friends early on that will last a lifetime!
  • Student Connect with Faculty and staff to learn about campus resources, skills, and topics available for success through.
  • Following the 2-day program, students will be invited to participate in other fun on-campus events including ARC Registration Party. (This event assists freshmen active with ARC in registering for their second semester.)
  • Students have the chance to continue participation in D.R.E.A.M. by becoming a D.R.E.A.M. ambassador for the following year and gain a volunteer/leadership experiences.
