What to Do: Bomb Threat

A bomb or incendiary device can take almost any form and can be triggered in a wide variety of ways. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should a suspicious object be touched or moved.
  • Contact University of New Haven Police (203) 932-7070.
    • Give the location of where there is a possible threat, as well as a description of what the suspicious package looks like.
  • Remain Calm. DO NOT ever try to force open elevator doors.
  • Immediately remove yourself and others from the area and report to the building’s muster point.
  • While evacuating the building, leave doors and windows open if they already are.
    • This will dissipate the energy of a potential explosion.
  • While at the building’s muster point, await further instructions by University Police.
  • Follow all instructions given by University Police throughout the duration of the incident.
  • Do not return to the building or area until University Police has deemed it clear.
