Enhanced Learning Communities at the University of New Haven provide First-Year students in specific majors or programs with outstanding, out-of-class co-curricular and residential experiences.

First Year students have the opportunity to request to live in an academic or theme-based residential community made up of their peers with similar majors or interests. After being accepted to an ELC, students are placed on a common floor in a residence hall with staff that has been specifically selected to work with that community. Each ELC has at least one faculty/staff advisor who collaborates with Residential Life hall staff throughout the year.

ELC members participate in orientation activities that facilitate the transition into college while allowing them to connect with faculty outside of the classroom at the beginning of the year, and throughout the year engage in social and educational programming based on the content of the community’s major or interest.
